COLLECTIONS CARE SEMINAR SERIES: #1 Policy planning and development
Thu 20 Apr, 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
This is the first seminar in the Collections Care Seminar Series, which will explore the importance of policy development and planning for effective collections care within museums and galleries. Throughout the presentation, participants will learn about the key components of effective policy development and implementation, and the ways in which they can be used to ensure the responsible management and long-term preservation of the collections in their care.
Topics covered will include:
- The role of policies in ensuring the responsible management of collections
- Best practices and ethical considerations in planning, developing, and implementing policies
- Review of the core policies related to collections care (i.e. collection policy, preventative conservation policy/action plan)
The seminar will also provide opportunities for participants to share their experiences and insights, as well as to engage in group discussions. By the end of the seminar, participants will have a deeper understanding of the importance of policy development for effective collections care and will have gained practical knowledge and skills to develop and implement policies in their own institutions.
