Online Workshop

WORKSHOP: Volunteer engagement and retention

Tue 02 May, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Delivered in partnership with the Royal Historical Society of Victoria (RHSV), this workshop is designed to provide practical guidance to develop effective volunteer engagement and retention strategies within a collecting organisation. The presentation is divided into three main parts:

  1. Identifying Volunteer Roles: Participants will learn how to identify the types of volunteer roles that their organisation needs to support its mission and operations.
  2. Creating Position Descriptions: Participants will learn and practice how to create position descriptions that clearly define the roles and responsibilities of each volunteer position.
  3. Recruiting and Managing Volunteers: Participants will explore volunteer recruitment and management strategies that promote a positive experience for both the volunteers and the organisation.

Throughout the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, share their experiences, and learn from one another. By the end of the workshop, participants will have the knowledge and tools necessary to effectively identify roles, develop position descriptions, and manage volunteers within their historical society.
