Victorian Collections Day [Conference Only] [Past Event]

This Conference pass will give you access to a full day of case study presentations and lightning talks aimed at the community collecting sector to help you achieve the best care for your collection.

Hear from museum and gallery industry experts and members of our Victorian Collections community, on topics including the law and your collection, born-digital collecting, digitisation, and ways to utilise your catalogue records to increase engagement with your community. Talks will provide attendees with case study reflections and practical, low-budget take-away information and inspiration to implement solutions and processes at your organisations.

You will also attend a series of hands on workshops based at Melbourne Museum the following day.

Day 1: Royal Historical Society Victoria, 10:00 - 4:00 pm

Hear from museum and gallery industry experts and members of our Victorian Collections community, on topics including the law and your collection, born-digital collecting, digitisation, and ways to utilise your catalogue records to increase engagement with your community. Talks will provide attendees with case study reflections and practical, low-budget take-away information and inspiration to implement solutions and processes at your organisations.

Day 2: Melbourne Museum, 10:30 - 3:30 pm

Join us for practical hands-on workshops in which we hone our skills in object handling, storage solutions, packing for transport, cataloguing and disaster preparedness and response.
