Silver Linings 5: What have teachers learned from remote learning? [Past Event]

Thu 20 Aug, 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

“I believe that there will be many opportunities to challenge the many rigid practices of teaching which haven’t changed for years … it is a great opportunity for us to look at education as a whole and ask ourselves -what do we truly value in education, what are we doing well? What can we do better and grow?”

Anonymous teacher quoted in Australian Education Survey, Examining the impact of COVID-19 Report Summary, Ziebell, Acquaro, Pearn and Tiong Seah, Melbourne Graduate School of Education.

Would you like to hear about teachers’ experiences of remote teaching and learning? What about it was good, what was bad and what was interesting? What have they learned about students and their learning through this experience? How can cultural institutions provide better resources for schools of the future?

The Australian Education Survey research team from the University of Melbourne Graduate School of Education will discuss the ‘Examining the impact of COVID-19 Summary Report’. This report surveyed 1200+ educators across Australia to gain a snapshot of the impacts of remote and online learning. Natasha Ziebell, Daniela Acquaro, Wee Tiong Seah and Cath Pearn will present a summary of the report’s findings and practicing teachers will provide a personal view of their experiences.
