Roll out the welcome wagon!
We’re thrilled to welcome two new team members to AMaGA Victoria, Kavita Peterson and Maria Dunne.
Kavita is our new paid intern who will take up the position as Project Officer. Kav is an emerging Fiji-Indian Australian museums practitioner and researcher from Gunai/Kurnai land. With a focus on decolonial approaches to heritage, Kavita transitioned to museums during the pandemic, pursuing a dual award master's program in Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies from Deakin University and World Heritage from Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg in Germany. Their thesis examines the representation of German colonialism in national history museums.
Maria is joining the team as our new Communications Manager, supporting AMaGA’s Victorian and National offices. Maria brings with her a keen interest in community development and cultural spaces. Before AMaGA, she worked at theatres and festivals in Melbourne and holds a Master's in Cultural and Creative Industries from Monash University. Her thesis on the Drag and Burlesque Scene in Melbourne is archived by the Australian Queer Archive (AQuA).
If you see them around, please be sure to say hello and make them feel welcome!
