Victorian Collections Day [Conference + Workshops] [Past Event]

This Conference + Workshops pass will give you access to a full day of case study presentations and lightning talks aimed at the community collecting sector to help you achieve the best care for your collection. You will also attend a series of hands on workshops based at Melbourne Museum the following day.

Day 1: Royal Historical Society Victoria, 10:00 - 4:00 pm

Hear from museum and gallery industry experts and members of our Victorian Collections community, on topics including the law and your collection, born-digital collecting, digitisation, and ways to utilise your catalogue records to increase engagement with your community. Talks will provide attendees with case study reflections and practical, low-budget take-away information and inspiration to implement solutions and processes at your organisations.

Day 2: Melbourne Museum, 10:30 - 3:30 pm

Join us for practical hands-on workshops in which we hone our skills in object handling, storage solutions, packing for transport, cataloguing and disaster preparedness and response.

Find out how the Roving Curator Program could assist you with in 2020, and get tips on common mistakes in Roving Curator Program applications, and how to write a strong application.

The deadline for applications for the 2020 Roving Curator Program is until: 5pm Thursday 17 October 2019.

The Roving Curator Program helps museums and galleries develop engaging and dynamic exhibitions. The program offers an exhibitions professional (Roving Curator) to work with successful applicants on an exhibition-related project. Support provided includes several days on-site assistance and follow-up advice.
